As the New Year approaches, now is an ideal time to clear the karma you have accumulated over the past year, satisfy longstanding karmic debts and free yourself to live a more joyful, spontaneous life.

Karma is Sanskrit for “action.” According to the Tibetan Bon and Buddhist traditions, any action you do with intent is said to leave a trace, whether positive or negative, in your mindstream. That trace will bear fruit as soon as conditions are ripe for it to manifest. By purifying negative karma, you are less bounded by conditions and can more easily overcome harmful patterns of thought or behavior.

During this webcast, Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoche will explain and guide a meditation that combines visualization with recitation of the powerful purification mantra A Kar A Me, one of the three Great Mantras of Bon. Additional guided meditations will be led by a senior student. These practices, from the Experiential Transmission of Zhang Zhung, are traditionally done to prepare oneself as a container of higher spiritual knowledge and as a vehicle for profound transformation.

Rinpoche's students worldwide are also encouraged to schedule and host their own events, open to all, in which they invite others in their locale to participate as a group in this daylong webcast.

Shenla-Odkar-smAbout Shenlha Ökar

During the practice, participants will be guided in a visualization of Shenlha Ökar (Shen Deity of White Light). Shenlha Ökar is also known as Lhachig (Great God) in the Bön tradition of Tibet. He appears at the center of the Bön Refuge Tree (Tsogshing). Shenlha Ökar has one face and two arms. His hands are placed in his lap in the gesture of meditation. He is luminous white in color and adorned with the beautiful ornaments of a peaceful deity. Seated on a snow lion throne, he abides in a pure land. Shenlha Ökar manifests for the benefit of beings as the Six Subduing Shen (Buddhas of the Six Realms of Samsara) in order to guide the beings of the six realms (Tib. kham, Skt. lokas) from suffering to liberation.
